At Start.Up Lounge Africa we believe in the great potential of African startups operating on the continent. This is an understanding we have had for a very long time and demonstrated in different capacities over the years.
Start.Up Lounge Africa began in April 2020 with a Web Series focused on providing a medium for African Start-ups to speak about their stories, journey, and experiences from their unique African perspective.
In short to give a “voice” to African founders. Throughout our interactions with start-up founders from Ghana, Nigeria, and other African countries, we have come to observe the striking similarities in the challenges they are faced with; inadequate support systems and infrastructure that facilitate sustainable growth.
This has been manifested in various forms including:
Absence of realistic policies governing the framework of doing business or running startups
Inadequate visibility and connections to startups across the African continent.
Little to no access to resources and insights to facilitate the growth process of these businesses.
Irrespective of all these, one thing was strikingly common amongst all the Start-up Founders we conversed with; their resolute drive to keep pushing.
In light of this, we went a step further and beyond the webinar series to develop Kutana Africa, an online platform with a clear focus on providing Akos with visibility and connection to opportunities with SMEs in relevant markets first in Ghana and across West Africa. This also equips Akos with the resources and business insights relevant for her business needs.
This will be the go-to place for any Start-up Founder, African SME, Venture Capitalist, Research institute, Government agency, Business Development Service (BDS) providers, Incubators, Accelerators etc seeking relevant, tailored, real-time information and matchmaking with African startups anywhere on the continent.
